Christmas parties' talent portions

Three reasons why I've never been a fan of these talent portions...

1. Employees waste valuable company time practicing when they should be working, especially when sales goals have not yet been fully met in mid-December.

2. Talent competitions should be about talent. There hardly ever is in these contests. Another thing is we don't see showbiz entertainers suddenly working on excel spreadsheets during Christmas parties do we? So why should office personnel suddenly take up singing and dancing??

3. Employees should stick to just eating, drinking, interacting and telling jokes during a Chirstmas party. That's what parties are for. Not practicing for the upcoming talent portion. Everyone is usually tense and competetive when they should be in a celebratory mood.

This year though, I'm joining just for the heck of it... But you won't see me acting all tense and anti-social... I'll be eating and drinking merrily and laughing my ass off in Blue Onion!
